Aug 13–17 is a flexible lead-in — fly into Porto, then drift north through Porto, Viana do Castelo, Caminha and A Guarda by flat coastal boardwalk and scenic train, reaching Baiona by the evening of the 18th. Those days aren't booked yet, so change them freely. The group Camino begins Aug 18.
126 km over 6 walking days, Galicia's green northwest. This is the final stretch of the Camino Português — past Vigo you'll join the Central route, which qualifies for the Compostela certificate (last 100 km on foot, two stamps a day in your credential).
Toughest day: Aug 20 (Vigo→Vilaboa) has the route's one real climb out of Vigo. Easiest: Aug 21 into Pontevedra, just 12 km.
August: mild and green but sunny — hat, sunscreen, 1.5L water, early starts. Cafés and fountains are frequent.
Bag-transfer services (Tuitrans, Pilbeo, Correos) carry your suitcase hotel-to-hotel for ~€5–8/day, so you walk with a daypack. Worth it.
Break in your shoes before you go. Carry blister plasters; air your feet at every café stop. The thermal spa at Caldas de Reis (Aug 22) is perfectly timed for tired legs.
Europe-wide emergency: 112 (English spoken).
